Youth Volunteering

The 1^st of April saw the launch of vinvolved, an exciting new structure of support for youth volunteering across England, which is now provided by v. 

The vinvolved teams in London work specifically with 16 – 25 year old volunteers and are focusing their work on raising the quality of volunteering so that opportunities reflect the interests, aspirations and passions of young people.  We will also work on increasing the number of young people volunteering.

The vinvolved programme replaces Millennium Volunteers, which officially came to an end on 31 March 2008.  We realise that this may be a confusing time for organisations and young people who were accessing volunteering support through MV, and we are available to provide support and answer any questions you may have.

Your contact for the Central London vinvolved team is Gary Wells.  Gary covers the areas of; Camden, Highbury & Islington, Westminster, Kensington & Chelsea, Lambeth, Wandsworth and Southwark, but can also signpost you to your local vinvolved team. He is based at London Youth in our Pitfield Street office.

In-house Volunteering Opportunities

Activenture

London Youth organises residential activity weeks at our residential centres for young people with disabilities or special needs (8-18 years) generally held during school holidays. We have positions for: voluntary helpers (14+), group leaders (18+), waking night staff (18+), and nurses to help us run these programs with all food and accommodation provided free!

Youth Action Team

North London vinvolved Team are also looking to create a Youth Action Team of young people aged 16-25 to champion volunteering locally, encourage other young people to get involved in volunteering and advise us on youth-led community action. If you live in the North London area (boroughs listed above) and are interested in joining this team of volunteers to shape volunteering for young people please contact us.
