YouthWorks

YouthWorks is an exciting new project funded by the new youth volunteering charity v. It's aim is to train a new generation of youth workers with a specialism in community activism. Young people who access the programme will volunteer full time for 6 months in one of London Youth's Quality Marked clubs. During this time they will take their Level 1 Foundation in Youth Work, organise a community project that engages other young people and take part in a fun programme of personal development.  The project is fully funded and young people are able to claim back all expenses through London Youth.

For her YouthWorks community project Katrina Harris worked with a group of young people at her youth club to design and sell t-shirts with anti-crime slogans.

The t-shirts were sold at The Blackstock Road Community Festival which was well attended by the local community. The police attended the festival and had lots to say about Katrina and her groups work, click here to hear more.

2008 Recruitment:

Early next year London Youth will be recruiting 20 young people and 20 youth clubs to take part in an even bigger and better 2009 YouthWorks programme.

Young people interested in applying need to be aged 16-25 years old and committed to volunteering full time from April - September 2009. Youth clubs that may be interested in hosting a young person need to have started or to have been awarded a Level of the London Youth Quality Mark.
