January News

* For 2006 LYR are planning a monthly challenge to keep our rowers focused on doing their mileage and keeping fit. January is the month we traditionally all moan about how much weight we have put on over Christmas and promise ourselves new exercise regimes. So this month I have challenged our clubs to see who can register the most calories from January 1st-February1st inclusive.

* LYR will be holding another DI course on January 21st for up to 12 youth leaders to qualify in coaching on an indoor rowing machine.

* We are holding a schools-only competition on 17th January at Langdon School in Newham. Eight schools will be competing for the LYR indoor rowing cup which is currently held by Oaklands School in Tower Hamlets.

* We are holding a club competition on 28th January at Westminster House youth club. We are hoping for five teams to compete but are happy for anyone interested to turn up and see what goes on.

We hope that our next competition will bring both clubs and schools to the same arena on the same date.
