IPCC Young People`s Project

London Youth and the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) have been working together in the first half of 2007, with a steering group of young peer educators, to organise 4 young people's events.

The events aimed:

  • increase awareness of the IPCC and the police complaints system among young people aged 15-24 years;
  • help increase confidence among young people to complain;
  • gain clear understanding of the issues affecting young people and their thoughts on the experiences of the policing.
Following these events London Youth have produced a report for the IPCC and a set of recommendations on engaging with young people in the future.

We have also made a DVD, in conjunction with young people, for youth-workers to use as a tool to discuss policing and help young people understand the complaints system.

To get a copy of the report or DVD or for further information on the project contact Rosie on rosie.ferguson at londonyouth.org.uk
