Getting Ready for the Games and Beyond wins two awards Getting Ready, which is exploiting the opportunity of London 2012 to enable all young Londoners to get involved in and develop a life-long love of sport, has won two awards. On April 23rd, at the 3rd annual Pro-Active London Awards for Sport and Physical Activity held at the Oval Cricket Ground, Getting Ready won awards for being the Pro-Active Partner of the Year in both east and central London. The awards were hosted by Richard Sumray, Chair of the London 2010 Forum, and Derek Redmond, former Great Britain 400m sprinter who gold medals at European, Commonwealth and World Championship level. The Pro-Actives are a five region sports partnership working together to deliver a 1% increase in sport and physical activity in London. Key to this is the delivery of the Government’s five hour offer and John Jones and Jas Hothi, our Getting Ready Officers, have been instrumental in organising this in youth clubs across the capital. Both were cited during the ceremony for the incredible impact that they have had in the past 12 months. We are absolutely delighted that the quality of our community sports development work has been recognised. While the success of Getting Ready is down to whole London Youth sports team, we are particularly proud that the fantastic work of John and Jas has been highlighted.
