Employability & Personal Development Workshop

London Youth has delivered its first Employability and Personal Development workshop with five young men from the Harrow Somali Youth Club.

We helped the boys assess their personal skills, explained how to look and apply for jobs and how to hone their interview technique before they each came up with a personal action plan for their Job hunt (all done with the usual Youth Action flair of exercises, games and an energetic bout of Woo Hah).

Carl Clarke, who has only recently joined London Youth through the Future Jobs Fund scheme, was incredible and stepped into the co-facilitator role with a natural command of the room and a facilitating style that suggested he had run workshops for years, as opposed to it being his first one.

Shane Franklin was able to pass on his knowledge of the little tips and techniques that make a big difference to job hunters from his experience over the last few months of seeing hundreds of CVs as part of his role running London Youth's Future Jobs Fund programme.

All of the workshop's participants rated both the training and trainers as very good or excellent in their evaluations. Many said that they had never had any training on even the most basic job hunting or interview skills before but all indicated that they would like to take part in more of our workshops.
