About Activenture
London Youth organises residential opportunities for young people (ages 8-18 years) with impairments (physical/non physical) during school holidays. This project known as Activenture provides new experiences for all young people and adults taking part.
How does it work?
We residentially accommodate between 20-40 young people with impairments (Guests) during each stay (generally 7 days, 6 nights). During their stay guests work within small groups (typically 5-7 guests) who are accompanied by at least the same number of volunteer helpers that work with all within their group. Their duties depending on the needs of the guests will include helping with general day-to-day care, as well as encouraging participation in all of the activities.
Experienced and trained adult volunteers and a registered nurse supervise all our helpers and guests. Additional adults are on duty throughout the night checking on each guest hourly and dealing with any special night care or support required.
All our helpers and staff undergo training as well as completing enhanced CRB checks and references before attending.
GP's are on call at the local Health Centres at Forest Row and Amersham in the event of an emergency and advice required.
