Summer Opportunities with London Youth & The Challenge

In 2012 London Youth is franchising with The Challenge Network to offer young people an opportunity to come together, after their GSCEs, and make their mark on their communities through an inspirational three week programme!

The Challenge Network is a charity set up in 2009, and has run successfully for two years and worked with close to 5,000 young people across London, North West and West Midlands. Together with the Challenge, London Youth will work with 180 young people in boroughs of Hackney and Tower Hamlets. Young people will take on physical, social and community challenges that prepare them to design and deliver a project that will make a difference to their local neighbourhoods. 

The partnership creates great opportunities for young people aged 15-16 to take part in the programme, as well as opportunities for staff, volunteers and anyone who has passion for youth work to be involved in delivery of this intensive programme.

The recruitment for 1,500 summer roles has already started and details about positions and criteria are available on The Challenge website here. There is an opportunity, however, to specifically apply to work during programmes run by London Youth. 

London Youth will deliver three cohorts of the three-week programme (known as ‘Waves’), which fall on the below dates:

• 24.06-12.07.2012
• 14-31.07.2012
• 3-20.08.2012

We will be looking to recruit:

• Programme Leaders
• Assistant Programme Leaders
• Senior Mentors

Additionally, the Challenge are recruiting:

• Team Mentors
• Logistics and Residential Accommodation Managers

Deadline for applications for any of the above roles at London Youth waves was on Wednesday 14th of March. You can still send your application however there is no guarantee that you will be allocated at London Youth waves.
