On Wednesday 10th December 2008 Woodrow staged it's annual Volunteers' Lunch when the Woodrow staff say thank you to all the people who have generously given their time and effort during 2008 to support the work that Woodrow High House does with young people. During the lunch Peter Willison and Margaret Law - stalwarts of the Gardening for the Disabled Group - were appointed to Woodrow's Roll of Honour Board. On Sunday 23rd November 2008 there was a huge party as friends, family, colleagues and supporters gathered in the Sports Hall for Roy Hickman's Farewell Party. Mr. Val Doonican was guest of honour. Roy is retiring as Centre Director at the end of 2008 after many years of dedication, hard work and flair.
Although there was a poignant atmosphere with some sadness at saying goodbye to Roy, there was also cause for celebration as Roy and Val had great pleasure in appointing Roger Jefcoate C.B.E. and Francis Sheridan to Woodrow High House's Roll of Honour Board. Although she was unable to attend in person Mrs. Liz Wagstaff a long standing member of the Friends of Woodrow and one time Secretary of that Committee was similarly honoured.
