The
Eco-Centres scheme encourages whole
centre action for the environment. It is run by Encams the people who do
Keep Britain Tidy and Eco-Schools. We are encouraging all of Hindleap Warren's staff and visitors
to work towards Eco-Centre status - something we aim to achieve as soon as
possible.

HINDLEAP'S ECO-CODE
We encourage Hindleap Warren’s staff and visitors to think about
their relationship with our local, national and global environment,
and to adopt a responsible approach.
We believe that change in people’s approach to the environment
happens when they are presented with small achievable steps.
We want to ‘practise what we preach’. We are using the Eco-Centre
Award Scheme to improve our environmental performance. The most important
examples of this are: running the centre in an
environmentally-friendly way, and educating our visitors about the
environment. |
We provide recycling stations for visitors,
staff and the local community. These include paper, mobile phones,
fluorescent light bulbs, print cartridges, cans, bottles, cooking oil,
clothing.
Our recycling schemes have now spread to the
community - local businesses and the parish council in Forest Row have
recently become involved.
We run annual competitions with an
environmental theme for local schools. The winner of last year's eco-jingle
competition got an afternoon of free activities for themselves and 8
friends.
We teach all of our visitors about the
animals and ecology of our beautiful forest grounds.
