Voluntary staff - group leaders

The Staff Team consists of the Activenture Manager, Course Director and Housekeeper, Registered Nurse, Activity Organiser and Group Leaders. This Staff Team is responsible for the management of between 20-35 special needs guests (ages 8-18) and between 20-35 young helpers (ages 14+)

Responsibilities:

The whole of the staff team is resident at the centre throughout the Activenture week. You will help to supervise a group of between 4 & 5 special needs guests and 4 & 5 young helpers. This will include the daily briefings and continual care of the guests in conjunction with the resident nurse. This will include their intimate/personal hygiene and general day-to-day needs. You will also be expected to encourage the full participation of your group’s special needs guests and the young helpers in all the activities of the week. You will further be expected to contribute to the daily reporting and monitoring system that ensures the safety of the Activenture programme.

Training:

You will be expected to attend a training day where you will be introduced to the essential equipment you may be required to use during the Activenture week. This is an occasion when you will be able to meet others also involved on the programme and also meet with the Course Director for the week.

Qualifications:

• Experience of working with young people.

• A caring attitude and a willingness to help others.

• A “ Get on with the Job” approach.

• A strong a sense of humour.

Please note: References will need to be taken up prior to you being engaged as a volunteer along with a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check. You will be required to be aged 18 years plus.
