Richard Sermon awarded
MBE
We are proud and
delighted that our former Chairman, Richard Sermon has been awarded an
MBE in the New Year’s Honours List. Richard became chair of London Youth
at its inception in 1999, following the merger between The London Union
of Youth Clubs and The London Federation of Boys’ Clubs, and led the
organisation through significant change and, more recently, growth.
London Youth achieves Reach
quality standard
London Youth has been awarded Reach, the quality assurance framework for
Youth Action agencies. The framework focuses on all aspects our Youth
Action work from accessibility, induction and progression, safety,
diversity, support, reflection and learning to recognition, community
benefit, partnership working and youth participation.

Siana Bangura, a member of DareLondon, London Youth's
young person advisory board, chaired the National Intergenerational
Conference on 28th October 2009.

expertise at international conference
London
Youth shared its expertise and experience of working with young people to
promote community cohesion at an influential international youth work
conference in Chicago. The Inter Faith Youth Core invited and funded John
Anderson, London Youth’s Youth Action Manager, to deliver a session at their
sixth annual conference.

Quality Mark
City & Guilds, the biggest name in
UK vocational education, has offered its support to London Youth’s
co-owned Quality Mark scheme. This is the first step in a six month
recognition process that will result in a full endorsement in early
2010.

Getting Ready for the Games and Beyond
stats
The first quarterly report shows that Getting Ready has
got off to a flying start. Between June and August over 3,800 children and
young people took part in sport as a result of the programme.
